The Cable Connection: In a new venture between cable and commercial television, HBO Independent Productions is working up two half-hour comedy specials that will debut on HBO and then air on ABC and Fox as series prototypes. Colin Quinn and Mario Joyner star in “The Road Warriors” (for ABC), which follows the duo as they perform in comedy clubs around the country. “The Ben Stiller Show” (Fox) features MTV’s Stiller as a transplanted New Yorker who comes to Hollywood to seek fame and fortune.
