Woman Assaulted in Car on Freeway; Man Arrested
A woman was attacked with a broken bottle early Monday and her assailant tried to rape her inside his car, which was off to the side of the Foothill Freeway in Irwindale, authorities said.
Joaquin Rosales, 42, of Pasadena, was arrested about 3:30 a.m. and was being held without bail at Irwindale City Jail, said Irwindale Police Officer Mike Luque.
“Highway Patrol officers rolled up to the car, saw the struggle, her bleeding and the broken glass,” Luque said. “The officers apparently got there right in time to stop him.”
The woman was hospitalized and reported in good condition, Luque said.
Rosales was held on suspicion of attempted murder, armed robbery and attempted rape, Luque said. Police had no details on the relationship between the suspect and the woman.
