GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Capistrano Valley Takes Bolsa Grande Championship

Sophomore Katie Scott scored 15 points as Capistrano Valley defeated Laguna Hills, 76-37, in the championship game of the Bolsa Grande girls’ basketball tournament Wednesday at Bolsa Grande.

Alisa Farr, who had 11 points, was the only other player in doubles figures for Capistrano Valley. Capistrano Valley was in command most of the way, leading, 23-10, after the first quarter and 45-23 at the half.

In the third-place game:

Estancia 72, Westminster 51--Monique Sweet scored 26 points and Leah Braatz added 24 for Estancia.

In the Cypress tournament:

University 56, Buena Park 16--Stephanie Dittmer scored 17 points and had 12 rebounds, both game highs, for University in a consolation round semifinal. University plays Valencia at 3 p.m. Friday for the consolation championship.

In the La Quinta tournament:

Corona del Mar 45, La Quinta 36--Rosalie Kane had a game-high 26 rebounds and 16 points for Corona del Mar (4-5) in the first round. Mollie Flint had 21 points for Corona del Mar.

Savanna 53, Santiago 49--Sara Works had 23 points for Savanna (5-2) in the first-round game. America Robledo scored 30 points for Santiago (1-3).

In nonleague play:

Troy 81, Anaheim 33--Becky How had 18 points and 15 rebounds and Dede Logemann had 18 points and 13 rebounds for visiting Troy (3-3).

Tustin 60, Santa Margarita 32--Christine Garner and Shari Needham surpassed 1,000 career points for the Tillers (6-3) in the victory at Santa Margarita. Needham’s 19 points gave her 1,016 career points, and Garner increased her career total to 1,004 with 16.
