In another first-round game at the Orange Holiday Classic:
Marina 67, Kennedy 62--Brendan Lyons scored 20 points and Matt Keim added 16 for the Vikings.
In the first round of the Century Carl’s Jr. Classic :
Century 58, Santa Ana 48--Jason Welty scored 14 points to lead the Centurions to the victory in the first meeting between the schools.
In the championship game of the San Dieguito tournament:
Del Mar Torrey Pines 83, Trabuco Hills 67--Torrey Pines, the top-ranked team in San Diego, led 38-36 at halftime but outscored the Mustangs, 28-10, in the third quarter to blow the game open. Craig Brown scored 37 for Torrey Pines and Corey Klinke led sixth-ranked Trabuco Hills (7-3) with 22.
Mustang center Gavin Vanderputten was held to a season-low 13 points, and didn’t take a shot in the first quarter.
In the fourth-place game of the Hacienda Heights Wilson boys’ soccer tournament:
Capistrano Valley 3, Hacienda Heights Wilson 2 (OT)--Scott Shone scored the tying goal with 12 minutes remaining in regulation, and Matt Berger, who earned all-tournament honors, scored the game-winner in overtime for Capistrano Valley (8-1).
In the championship semifinals of the South Torrance soccer tournament:
Marina 3, Beverly Hills 0--Gavin Farnam scored two goals for Marina (4-1-2), which advanced to today’s 3 p.m. championship game.
In the consolation quarterfinals:
Huntington Beach 4, Bishop Montgomery 0--Mike Mendell scored three goals for the Oilers (4-3-1), who also defeated Riverside Arlington in the consolation semifinals to advance to today’s 11 a.m. consolation championship match against Torrance.
In the championship game of the Cerritos girls’ soccer tournament:
Marina 2, Mission Viejo 1--Amy Peterson, the tournament’s most valuable player, scored one goal and Marcy Crouch scored the other for Marina (7-0).
