Three children--two 2-year-olds and a 4-year-old--were burned, one critically, by sizzling broth from a turkey that tipped over while roasting on a stove Tuesday, Los Angeles fire officials said.
City fire spokesman Bob Collis said the turkey was being roasted in the kitchen of a Koreatown apartment when it was tipped over accidentally about 7:30 p.m. The youngsters, two brothers and a cousin, were rushed from the apartment in the 3000 block of West 9th Street to Childrens Hospital in Hollywood.
The 4-year-old boy, identified as Luis Espinoza, was reported in critical condition with second-degree burns over 50% of his body, hospital officials said.
His 2-year-old brother, Eduardo Espinoza, was reported in serious condition with second- and third-degree burns over 20% of his body, officials said.
The boys’ cousin, 2-year-old Claudia Solis, suffered third-degree burns over about 6% of her body, officials said.
