Danny Tartabull said he was “tickled about the way things worked out” after signing a $25.5-million, five-year contract with the New York Yankees.
“It’s exciting to me, a challenge,” said Tartabull, who hit .316 last season for the Kansas City Royals, with 31 home runs and 100 runs batted in. “I want to be part of the leadership of the club and bring a championship back to New York.”
The deal made the free-agent outfielder the fifth-highest paid player in baseball.
