COLLEGE BASKETBALL PACIFIC 10 ROUNDUP : Stanford Beats Oregon State
Peter Dukes made a three-point basket with 33 seconds left to give Stanford a 67-64 victory over Oregon State in a Pacific 10 Conference opener Thursday night at Corvallis, Ore.
Adam Keefe, who scored a game-high 27 points, sealed the victory for Stanford (9-1, 1-0) when he stole a pass with two seconds left.
Oregon State’s Chad Scott, who was averaging 17.8 points and 8.3 rebounds, missed the game because a faculty committee declined to overturn his academic suspension from the university.
Stanford also got 12 points from Brent Williams and 11 from Dukes.
Scott Haskin scored 21 points for Oregon State (8-6, 0-1).
Oregon 67, California 57--Antoine Stoudamire scored 26 points and Johnnie Reece added 21 for the Ducks in the conference-opening victory at Eugene, Ore.
Stoudamire’s three-point basket with 5:05 left gave Oregon (5-5, 1-0) a 56-47 lead. The Ducks then made 11 of 12 free throws without taking another shot from the field.
Oregon made 10 of 23 three-point attempts.
Brian Hendrick scored 18 points for California (6-5, 0-1).
