Volley of Gunshots Prompts 2 Arrests
Wanda Walker, 44, and her son, Vince Scalise, 21, were taken into custody by sheriff’s deputies Tuesday after neighbors reported hearing more than 50 shots fired from Walker’s Lakeside home.
Sheriff’s deputies received several calls at 7:26 a.m. from neighbors who reported the gunshots. Several patrol deputies arrived at Walker’s home in the 13000 block of Willow Road and surrounded it.
Mother and son climbed out of bedroom window at about 8:30 a.m. and surrendered to deputies.
Investigators were not sure if there was anyone left inside the home and called a sheriff’s SWAT team to search it.
The SWAT officers fired several tear gas rounds inside the house and finally entered at about noon. The house was empty.
Sheriff’s officials said there were no shots fired at the deputies, and no injuries were reported.
