Jazzing Hi Captures Los Alamitos Feature
Making his final start before being retired to stud, Jazzing Hi won the $75,000 Horsemen’s Quarter Horse Racing Assn. Championship at Los Alamitos Race Course Friday night.
A 9-1 shot, Jazzing Hi ran the 440 yards in 21.54 seconds, paying $20.40, $9.40 and $5.60. Racin Vike finished a half-length back and paid $28.40 and $9.40. Isaws Sugar Bear paid $5.60 to show. Aprehend, the 6-5 favorite, finished seventh in the 10-horse field.
Jazzing Hi was the 1990 champion aged stallion, but won just two of eight starts in 1991. He won the Vessels Maturity at Los Alamitos in October but was off the board in three major stakes races after that, including an eighth-place finish in the Champion of Champions Dec. 21.
