Oregon State, in an emotional effort three days after the death of guard Earnest Killum, rolled to an 82-58 Pacific 10 Conference victory over Washington Thursday night at Corvallis, Ore.

Scott Haskin scored 24 points for Oregon State (10-8, 2-3 in the Pac-10), which led, 41-16, at halftime and never was threatened in the second half.

Killum, a former Southern Section 5-A player of the year at Lynwood High, suffered a stroke last Friday when the Beavers were in Los Angeles for games against USC and UCLA. He lapsed into a coma Sunday and died Monday.

Oregon State players wore the initials “EK” on the chest of their uniforms.

“We were just going out and doing what Earnest would do, hustle and play tough defense,” Haskin said. “I think everybody came out with a little bit of Earnest in him tonight.”

Washington (8-6, 2-2) scored its first basket 5 1/2 minutes into the game and had only 12 points before Rich Manning scored with 47 seconds left before halftime. The Huskies got no closer than 20 points.

Oregon State players will fly to Los Angeles today and attend Killum’s funeral Saturday.

Washington State 90, Oregon 55--At Eugene, the Cougars handed the Ducks their worst home loss since a 104-63 defeat to UCLA in 1968.

Terrence Lewis scored 22 points for Washington State (13-4, 1-4), which made 12 of its first 18 shots.

Oregon (5-9, 1-4), which has lost four in a row, made only five of 20 shots in the first half.
