The San Francisco Giants reached contract agreements with two right-handed pitchers. A three-year deal worth $6.9 million was accepted by Mike Jackson and a one-year deal worth $1,125,000 went to Jeff Brantley.
Jackson, acquired from Seattle in the Kevin Mitchell trade, had asked for $1.59 million in arbitration, and the Giants had offered $1.2 million. The Brantley settlement was at the midpoint between the pitcher’s salary arbitration request for $1.4 million and the team’s offer of $850,000.
Pitcher Greg Maddux agreed to terms with the Chicago Cubs on a one-year contract worth $4.2 million.
