Vance Lobell Wins at Los Alamitos
Vance Lobell, who shared aged pacer of the meet in 1991, started off 1992 Saturday night with a victory in the $15,000 Invitational pace at Los Alamitos Race Course.
Vance Lobell and driver Marc Aubin surprised the field of five by taking the lead and never relinquishing it, winning in 1:56 4/5. Customarily, Vance Lobell drops to the rear of the field and uses a late rush. Using those tactics, he won 13 of 33 starts in 1991 and earned over $135,000.
Winning Night, driven by Rick Plano, held off a late rush by Positive Spirit to save second. A 6-5 favorite, Vance Lobell paid $4.60, 3.40 and 2.60.
