A group of gunmen driving two cars followed a man to his home early Sunday, where they robbed him and seriously injured his wife, police said.

Police arrested two suspects shortly after the 3:30 a.m. incident. They said it was unknown how many more assailants were involved. At least one of the suspects arrested was identified by the victims, and property taken from the home was recovered in the suspect’s car.

Police did not release many specific details of the incident. In addition to the man who was followed, they said, there were three occupants of the home--the man’s wife, son and daughter. Police said the wife suffered major injuries to her face and was hospitalized as a result.

San Clemente Police Sgt. Richard Corder said the two suspects arrested are both from Los Angeles.

Willie Bradford, 19, and Aumont Pope, 20, were booked on burglary and robbery charges.

Police did not release the names of the victims or the address of their home.

The incident began after the victim, who had been working late, was followed to his home by men in two cars, police said.

As the victim started to unlock the door to his house, he saw the men who had followed him rushing at him from their vehicles, Corder said.

“The victim yelled into his house for everyone to get out,” Corder said. “The victim’s daughter managed to hide in a corner and dial 911.”

One assailant stood over the victim with a gun and demanded money while another went through the house, which was still occupied by the victim’s family, Corder said.

During this time, the conversation in the house was overheard by the dispatcher on the open 911 line, Corder said.
