SIMI VALLEY : Drivers Urged to Skirt Road Section

Share

Simi Valley transportation officials are encouraging drivers to avoid the northbound lanes of Madera Road between Royal and Los Angeles avenues for the next few weeks while workers repave the half-mile section of road.

Only one northbound lane of Madera will be open during the repaving, which began Monday, said George Berg, a city traffic engineer. Berg said he did not know how long it would take to complete the work.

The construction work on Madera Road is part of an ongoing $1.4-million resurfacing project that includes portions of two other city streets, Berg said. Several sections of Easy Street and West Los Angeles Avenue have already been repaved and are now waiting to be re-striped.

Reconstruction work on the two eastbound lanes of Madera Road in Wood Ranch was also recently completed, Berg said.

However, Berg said it will probably be late April or May before all work on the road, one of the busiest in the city, is finished.

Various sections of the road between Los Angeles Avenue and Easy Street need to be repaved, Berg said.

Once this work is completed, construction crews will begin working on sections of the southbound lanes running from Easy Street south and west to Wood Ranch.
