The Master’s 2, Point Loma Nazarene 1--Mike Smith (1-0) pitched a four-hitter to lead the visiting Mustangs (2-2) in a nonconference game. Master’s managed only three hits.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Cal Lutheran 91, Pomona-Pitzer 81--Jeff deLaveaga scored a game-high 33 points and was 15 of 16 from the free-throw line for visiting Cal Lutheran (11-9, 7-1), which remained in first place in the SCIAC.

Kelly Crosby added 19 points for the Kingsmen.

The Master’s 104, Latin American Bible College 86--Forward Jason Webster had 25 points and nine rebounds as the visiting Mustangs (18-8) used a strong inside game against Latin American Bible College (23-2).

Forward Tom Bruner scored 19 points and center Joe Jon Bryant added 18 points and 10 rebounds for The Master’s. Backup forward Stuart Epperson had 14 points.

Glendale 87, West L.A. 72--Alfonso Pule scored 21 points and Juwan Smith added 16 for host Glendale (13-12, 3-3) in a Western State Conference game. Will Burr had 14 points and Harry Marks added 11 for Glendale, which outscored West L.A., 51-38, in the second half.

Canyons 67, Bakersfield 57--Marquis Wilborn scored 10 of his team-high 15 points in the second half as Canyons (20-6, 5-1) won a Western State Conference South Division game.

Bakersfield (7-19, 1-5) led, 33-28, at halftime. The Cougars shot just well enough from the free-throw line in the closing minutes; Dave Langley made five of nine and Jeff Dorst made six of eight.

Langley, a guard, scored 14 points and had a career-high 12 assists.

Mt. San Jacinto 100, Antelope Valley 96 (2 OTs)--Dwain Bradberry scored 35 points for Mt. San Jacinto (20-8, 9-3) in the Foothill Conference game. D.J. Jackson scored 37 points and had 20 rebounds for the Marauders (15-12, 9-3).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Canyons 77, Bakersfield 64--Kim Fischer scored a game-high 21 points for host Canyons (13-14, 7-4) in a WSC game. Kape Stoll scored 16 points and Janice Van Mourik added 15 for Canyons.

The Master’s 66, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 62--Becky Boyle (14 points) and Angie Davenport (13) brought scoring punch off the bench to lead the host Mustangs (4-17) in a nonconference game.
