Man Dies When His Van Hits Utility Pole
A Van Nuys man was killed early Sunday when his van drifted off Sepulveda Boulevard and smashed into a utility pole, Los Angeles police said.
James Coyne, 59, was driving north near Stagg Street about 2:30 a.m. when the vehicle hit the pole, Officer Frank Zdroy said. Coyne, who was traveling alone, died at the scene.
Zdroy said it was unclear why the van left the road but speculated that Coyne may have fallen asleep.
