Tom Freeman, a former assistant coach at San Diego State and San Diego City College, was hired as offensive line coach at Purdue.
Freeman, 45, was an assistant at Arizona State the past eight years, including 1985-87 when Purdue Coach Jim Colletto was also a Sun Devil assistant.
“Our philosophies are an easy match,” Colletto said. “We know how each other works. We will have an easy mesh of job responsibilities. Plus, we now have five coaches on our staff who worked together on Arizona State’s 1987 Rose Bowl championship team.”
