COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Banks Helps Titans Beat Northridge, 5-2

Designated hitter Tony Banks drove in four runs, three of them on a home run, as Cal State Fullerton defeated Cal State Northridge, 5-2, in a nonconference baseball game Monday at Amerige Park in Fullerton.
With two out in the first, Phil Nevin walked and Jason Moler singled for Fullerton (4-2). Banks then pulled a three-run home run over the right-field fence. It was his second this season.
Moler had an RBI single and Banks drove in a run with a groundout in the third for Fullerton.
Bill Fitzgerald (2-0) allowed five hits and a walk in seven innings for the victory.
Northridge (0-4) scored single runs in the second and seventh.
In another nonconference game:
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 9, Chapman 6--Cliff Anderson had a home run and drove in four runs for host Chapman (4-4) at Hart Park in Orange.
Buster Nietzke had two hits, including a double, for the Panthers. San Luis Obispo (4-2) scored four runs in the fifth to take a 5-0 lead.
In Big West Conference men’s tennis:
UC Irvine 7, Pacific 2--Sophomore Brett Hansen-Dent defeated Kevin Smith, 6-3, 6-1, to improve to 7-2 this season for the host Anteaters (3-2, 1-0), ranked No. 21 in the nation. Irvine’s Marco Zuniga defeated Miles Webster, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, to run his record to 5-2.
In Big West Conference women’s tennis:
New Mexico State 7, Cal State Fullerton 2--Rosann Alva (3-0) defeated Susana Tous, 7-6, 6-4, and Natalie Hastings defeated Monica Castro, 7-6, 6-2, for the Titans’ only victories. Fullerton is 0-3 overall, 0-2 in conference play.
