3 Write Winning Essays in Optimist Contest

Dominic Tu, a senior at Sierra Vista High School in Baldwin Park, won first place in the Challenge of a Free Society essay contest sponsored by the Covina Optimist Club.

Christina Castro, also a senior at Sierra Vista, won second, and Mario Aloway, a senior at South Hills High School in West Covina, won third.

The three were given medals by the local club.
