Riley returns after a two-year absence as head coach. He was an assistant under Tim Ellis the past two seasons. The Braves won two league championships under Ellis, the Del Rey League in 1990 and the Angelus League last season. Riley led the Braves to eight winning seasons in nine years, but will have to work hard get them above .500 this season. There are only two returning starters back from the team that ran away with the league title a year ago. Morales was 5-2 as a pitcher and hit .311. Komadina hit .354 with four home runs and 26 runs batted in. After that, there are a lot of questions and Riley doesn’t have the answers yet. “We have four sophomores and three could start,” Riley said. “Fortunately, we’ve had a successful program for years. So kids are used to winning. They have a positive attitude.” Whether that’s enough, well, that’s the question. Ramirez, who saw limited playing time last season, is the only other pitcher besides Morales with any experience on the mound. “We had three players drafted from last year’s team, that’s how much talent we had,” Riley said. “Now, the other league teams are probably going to get even with us. Of course, in baseball, the best team doesn’t always win.”
