Two local annual events--the Nissan Los Angeles Open and City of Los Angeles Marathon--compete with the long-awaited but now diminished UCLA-Duke college basketball game for sports television viewers on the final weekend before baseball’s return to the airwaves.

* College Basketball: Instead of a chance to prove that it is the best team in the nation, No. 4 UCLA will be seeking to regain its credibility after its Thursday loss to USC when it faces No. 1 Duke at 1 p.m. Sunday on Channels 7, 3, 10 and 42. There is only one telecast today involving a team ranked in the Associated Press Top 25: No. 5 Arizona visits Oregon State at 3 p.m. on Channels 2 and 63. In addition to the UCLA-Duke game, there are three other telecasts Sunday featuring Top 25 teams: No. 24 Connecticut at Seton Hall (9 a.m., Channels 2 and 8); No. 10 North Carolina at Maryland (10 a.m., ESPN) and Illinois at No. 2 Indiana (11 a.m., Channels 2 and 8).

* Professional Basketball: NBC (Channels 4, 36 and 39) presents a Sunday doubleheader: the Portland Trail Blazers against the Chicago Bulls at 10 a.m., followed by the Utah Jazz visiting the Phoenix Suns. The Lakers play host to the Houston Rockets at 7:30 p.m Sunday on Prime Ticket.
