OXNARD : Driver Confesses He Struck Pedestrian
A 47-year-old San Fernando man confessed to authorities Friday that he was driving a car that hit and seriously injured a pedestrian in Oxnard, police said.
Michael Woodward was booked for the felony hit-and-run of Thomas Treadwell, 54, of Oxnard, police said. Woodward was later released, pending further investigation, said Oxnard Police Lt. Jeff Young.
About 8 p.m. Thursday, Treadwell was crossing Victoria Avenue north of Channel Islands Boulevard when he was hit by a car that sped away, Young said.
Both of Treadwell’s arms and legs were broken, and he also received cuts and bruises. He is in fair condition at St. John’s Regional Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.
On Friday afternoon, Woodward’s cousin, Janet Bradey, went to police and told them her car was the one involved in the accident, Young said. She said Woodward was driving it and would turn himself in after he arranged for bail.
Bradey led officers to her house, where they impounded her car for evidence.
