Los Angeles police arrested a 28-year-old Reseda man on suspicion of robbing two women at gunpoint while they were withdrawing money at their bank automatic-teller machines, authorities said Saturday.
Detectives arrested William Jennings, described as a transient in the Reseda area, on Friday as he attempted to sell stolen coins at a Reseda coin store. Jennings was booked on suspicion of grand-theft robbery and using a firearm, said Sgt. Frank McConnell.
The first robbery occurred Feb. 22 after 8 p.m. at a First Interstate Bank in Reseda in the 18000 block of Sherman Way. The gunman approached a 28-year-old Reseda woman and took off with the cash she had withdrawn and her wallet. The second robbery occurred at the same location Feb. 27, and the victim was a 58-year-old Reseda woman.
The victims told police that the gunman escaped on foot after the robberies, McConnell said.
