In unrelated shootings Friday night, a 17-year-old girl was injured in a domestic dispute and a 29-year-old man was wounded during a traffic argument, police said.

About 10 p.m. Friday, police found the girl bleeding from a gunshot wound outside her apartment in the 800 block of Irvine Avenue, according to Newport Beach Police Sgt. Steve Van Horn.

Her husband, Danny Alvarez, 19, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after police found a .32-caliber revolver and a 12-gauge shotgun inside the apartment, Van Horn said.

Police said they did not know what the couple were fighting about.

The girl, who was not identified because of her age, was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana. Hospital officials declined to release the girl’s condition.

Less than an hour later, a man--who was outside his home on the 600 block of Jasmine Avenue in Corona del Mar--shot a motorist on the street, Van Horn said. Police believe the men got into a traffic-related argument, but would not elaborate.

The motorist, James Scott David, 29, was taken to Mission Community Hospital in Mission Viejo in critical condition, Van Horn said.

Police arrested Stephen Meyers, 43, on suspicion of attempted murder after finding a loaded .38-caliber revolver and other firearms inside his home. Alvarez and Meyers are being held at the Newport Beach city jail on $250,000 bail.
