Southern Utah Beats Northridge, 89-75
Cal State Northridge entered Saturday night’s nonconference game against Southern Utah at the Centrum with a three-game winning streak, but the Matadors fell behind by 17 points at halftime, and could not recover in an 89-75 setback.
Trailing 51-31 early in the second half, Northridge (11-16) went on a 27-14 run to narrow the deficit to 65-58 with 9:36 left, but the Matadors could not draw closer.
Northridge made only nine of 30 shots in the first half, while Southern Utah made 17 of 27.
Davor Marcelic scored 35 points for Southern Utah (19-8). Dana Achtzehn added 23 points and 11 rebounds.
Andre Chevalier scored 14 of his 22 points in the first half for Northridge, and Keith Gibbs added 16.
Northridge concludes its season Tuesday night at Brigham Young.
