COMMUNITY COLLEGE ALL-CONFERENCE BASKETBALL TEAM : Ankton and Haygood Share Co-MVP Honors

Ray Ankton of Saddleback and Fred Haygood of Riverside were selected co-most valuable players of the Orange Empire Conference by a vote of the men’s basketball coaches.
Ankton, a sophomore guard, averaged 17.7 points. Haygood averaged 18.3 points and 9.6 rebounds.
Rancho Santiago’s Dana Pagett was named coach of the year. His Dons have won two consecutive conference titles.
The rest of the team: guards Beau Hossler and Glenn Greene of Rancho Santiago; guard Sam Sabbara and forward David Boyle of Cypress; center Dee Boyer of Saddleback; guard Lou Williams of Riverside; forward Bob Terry of Fullerton; forward Mark Johnson of Golden West, and guard Agustin Heredia of Orange Coast.
Center Erin Schimeneck of Saddleback was selected MVP of the Orange Empire Conference by the women’s basketball coaches.
Saddleback’s Jack Single was coach of the year.
Schimeneck, a 6-foot sophomore, averaged 15 points and 11 rebounds. She was joined by teammates Danielle Silva and Stefanie Moorman, both guards.
Also selected were guard Jennifer Harney and center Jenny Sullivan of Golden West; forwards Hollie Keeton and Monique Grace of Fullerton; guard Stacey Giem and forward Colleen Hatch of Orange Coast, and guard Rachell Auld and forward Kim Barnes of Riverside.
