After missing one chance to win in the final inning, Chapman took advantage of another and defeated Portland, 7-6, in a seven-inning nonconference baseball game Sunday at Hart Park in Orange.

The game was supposed to be part of a doubleheader, but the second game was called because of rain.

Portland had scored twice in the seventh to take a 6-5 lead, but Chapman came back in its half of the inning when junior Jason White hit his third home run of the season to tie it, 6-6.
