OUTLOOK
If this isn’t the year Brethren Christian challenges for the league title, then next year will be. But don’t count the Warriors out in 1992. Although Brethren Christian has no seniors on the roster, a number of talented upperclassmen should help it improve on last year’s fifth-place finish. Rueter earned first-team all-league honors as a freshman after compiling a 1.92 earned-run average and recording 82 strikeouts. Rueter also hit .326. Also back is Lynch, a second-team all-league selection who hit .293 last year. Much of the infield is experienced, with Judd and Rosa returning. “This team started to learn about winning last season with victories over two playoff teams (Valley Christian and Ayala),” said first-year coach Clifton. “We will be aggressive offensively and defensively, and the running game will be our strength.” Clifton expects strong contributions from Chau and Hunt, who could help the Warriors challenge defending champion Ayala.
