OUTLOOK

Laguna Hills and Trabuco Hills should battle for league supremacy this season, and Crouch sees team balance as the Hawks’ edge. “We have a good solid group of players, without one or two superstars,” Crouch said. “We have nine players who can really play this game.” Laguna Hills has a potent offense and stable defense that should help compensate for the inexperienced pitchers. Milo, a junior first baseman, hit .328 last season with three homers and 18 runs batted in in 24 games. Hayes, a senior outfielder, hit only .234 but had three homers and 22 RBIs. Sophomores Arzola (shortstop), Journell (second baseman) and Stevens (center fielder) anchor the defense up the middle, and all three hit well last season, with Arzola hitting .323, Journell .368 and Stevens .338. The Hawks’ top returning pitcher was Torin Lee, but shoulder trouble will sideline her for the season.
