South Pasadena School No. 1 in Math Contest

South Pasadena Junior High School won first place in the annual Mathcountscompetition Feb. 29 in Rancho Cucamonga.
Huntington Intermediate School in San Marino placed second and Ynez School in Monterey Park was third.
Kevin Kwan, an eighth-grader at South Pasadena Junior High, won the individual segment of the competition.
The 170-question competition involved 17 junior high and middle schools in the San Gabriel Valley. It was part of a nationwide event sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers.
