ESCONDIDO : Prosecutor Refiles 2nd Murder Charge

Share

A murder charge dismissed earlier against a former Escondido mechanic facing charges in a second slaying has been refiled.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Jeff Dusek said Monday that he refiled the charge against Ronald Porter, 44, who is now charged with killing two women. Both slayings were investigated by the Metropolitan Homicide Task Force.

A judge at Porter’s preliminary hearing March 3 dismissed the murder charge involving the June, 1986, death of Carol Gushrowski, 26, of El Cajon, on the grounds of insufficient evidence. Porter is also charged with killing Sandra Cwik, 43, in 1988, and the attempted murder of five other women.

Porter, who was sentenced to four years for sexual battery in another incident, was paroled last year and then charged with the two murders and the attempted murders.
