Share

Aaron Miller’s single in the bottom of the ninth inning scored Gabe Barboza to give Oceanside a 10-9 victory over Fallbrook in a Pirate Classic game that had been postponed by rain.

Miller’s third RBI on his third hit of the afternoon Saturday ended a memorable struggle for the Pirates. They held an 8-1 lead going into the sixth inning, but over the next two innings surrendered eight unearned runs by allowing three strikeout victims to reach base and committing four errors. Fallbrook scored three in the sixth and five in the seventh.

Fallbrook’s Steve Pack was in the middle of the decision. He went four for four with two doubles, and he had a two-run homer in the sixth inning. He also was the losing pitcher, pitching the seventh, eighth and ninth innings and dropping to 2-1.
