Paramedics airlifted an 11-year-old girl from a steep ledge in O’Melveny Park in Granada Hills on Sunday afternoon after she was stranded there while hiking with friends.
The unidentified girl emerged unharmed after the 20-minute rescue by firefighters, according to Bob Collis, spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department. The crew reached her about 3:35 p.m., strapped her to a pulley and hoisted her into the helicopter, he said.
She did not need medical attention, so paramedics drove her home, he said.
The girl’s companions, who were about the same age, helped firefighters locate her, Collis said. It was unclear how long she had been trapped, he said.
