Florida State Coach Pat Kennedy says he turned down an offer from Nevada Las Vegas that added up to $700,000 a year, including a new home. Kennedy, 118-66 in six seasons at Florida State, said the school’s growing basketball program and presence in the Atlantic Coast Conference helped keep him in Tallahassee.

Kennedy, 40, said he was contacted by UNLV athletic director Jim Weaver two weeks ago about filling the vacancy created by the resignation of Jerry Tarkanian.
