WEEKEND TV : Dinosaurs, Poitier and Whales Too

Dinosaurs, whales and one of the titans of the silver screen all take bows this weekend.

Three kids dodge dinosaurs after accidentally landing in the middle of their favorite TV show in “Adventures in Dinosaur City,” a made-for-cable movie tonight at 7 on the Disney Channel.

Meanwhile, NBC (4)(36)(39) presents “AFI Salute to Sidney Poitier” tonight at 9:30. This telecast, taped three weeks ago in Los Angeles, includes tributes and anecdotes about the great movie star from many in the entertainment world including Bill Cosby and Denzel Washington.

“In the Company of Whales,” airing at 6 and 9 p.m. Sunday on Discovery, is a two-hour documentary on the natural history of whales. The program, narrated by Jessica Tandy, features footage of six different whale species filmed off the coastlines of five continents.

And the whale of a battle for Democratic voters in Tuesday’s New York primary enters the home stretch with a debate between Jerry Brown and Bill Clinton carried live at 8 a.m. on C-SPAN. The hourlong program repeats at 3 p.m. on CNBC.
