Grossmont Tournament

El Capitan 12, Monte Vista 4--Jason Phillips went three for three with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored and Mike Leone two for four with two RBIs for El Capitan (6-4).

Granite Hills 6, Valhalla 3--Granite Hills (6-3) scored all its runs in the third on two walks, a Brian Brown RBI single, a Jeff Vance RBI double and a Chad Burchett sacrifice fly. Valhalla fell to 2-7-1.

Palomar League

Vista 14, Orange Glen 2--Shortstop Aaron Rounsifer went three for four and drove in three runs, and first baseman Matt Stone contributed a two-run homer as Vista overwhelmed Orange Glen with a 13-hit attack. Steve Chatham also had three hits for Vista (7-1-1).

Oceanside-Pirate Classic

Grossmont 11, El Camino 9--The Wildcats, who jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the semifinal game, challenged with five runs in the top of the seventh but came up short as junior left-hander Mark Olson (2-0) got his second victory of the week. Matt Jones was three for four with a homer, stole base and the save on the mound for the No. 2 Foothillers (8-0-1).

City Conference Tournament

Madison 16, Coronado 7--Jerry Jones went two for three with an RBI, Brad Tade was two for four with two RBIs, Robert Gross was three for four with four RBIs and Brian Presley had two hits with four RBIs for Madison (7-3).

Mission Bay 11, Hoover 1--Adam Stewart went three for four with two RBI and two runs scored and Eric Serrano was two for two with two RBI for Mission Bay (5-3).

St. Augustine 5, USDHS 4--Javier Pamus’ two-run triple capped the decisive three-run sixth inning for St. Augustine. Memo Lopez, who singled in a run in the sixth, allowed Mike Hall’s two-run in the top of the seventh before inducing a game-ending grounder for his fourth save. Marco Inzuna (3-1) earned the victory, although he trailed 2-0 until the fourth, when first baseman Craig Da Luz hit a two-run homer.
