ESCONDIDO : Suicide Threat Causes I-15 Detour
- Share via
The California Highway Patrol closed part of a freeway as officers attempted to dissuade a suicidal man from jumping off an overpass Tuesday evening, officials said.
Southbound Interstate 15 at California 78 was shut for five hours, starting at 4 p.m., after the man threatened to kill himself, CHP dispatcher Gary Williams said.
All southbound traffic was detoured for one exit until authorities had reached the man, Williams said. No information was available on the would-be jumper, but he was talked out of jumping and taken into custody, Williams said.
