Avocado League

Ramona 4, El Camino 3--Ty Tomlinson had three hits and Eric Kelton had two for Ramona (2-8, 1-3). Rocky Bracamonte pitched a five-hitter and walked none, and he still hasn’t allowed an earned run in 17 innings. Six of the game’s seven runs were unearned as the teams combined for nine errors.

Escondido 3, Oceanside 2--Oceanside was a strike away from winning--twice--but Escondido mounted a two-out rally in the bottom of the seventh. Oceanside starter Carl Mathis had a two-hitter going with two outs in the seventh, then walked three in a row. Forrest Belew replaced him, and Nick Terrazas worked the count full before bouncing a two-run single up the middle. Aaron Miller, who tripled earlier, had an RBI single in the top of the inning to give Oceanside (4-5-2, 1-3) a 2-1 lead.

San Marcos 8, San Pasqual 7--Sophomore Ryan Gallego hit his first two homers of the season, both with none on, and Tony Castaneda went three for three with an RBI to lead San Marcos. Ernie Silva had three hits, one a double, and two RBIs for San Pasqual.

Rancho Bernardo 8, Carlsbad 7--Jimmy Reardon’s third hit, a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh, capped a three-run rally for Rancho Bernardo (6-5, 3-1). Chad Sixt went three for four, scored four runs and had two RBIs for the Broncos, and Brent Sausen added three RBIs.

City Western League

USDHS 4, La Jolla 3--Mike Hall’s bases-loaded single with one out in the bottom of the 10th lifted USDHS (9-2, 2-0). Chris Richard, who had an RBI triple in the first, and Ian Hamilton each went two for five. Kevin McDonald (3-0) got the victory in relief.

Palomar League

Vista 7, San Dieguito 6--No. 5 Vista scored six runs in the third to improve to 8-2, 3-1.

Mt. Carmel 12, Fallbrook 4--Dave Corinek’s three-run homer keyed an eight-run sixth inning for Mt. Carmel (4-8, 1-3). Corinek also had two doubles, and teammate Rusty Dudley had a two-run homer. Steve Pack homered for Fallbrook (4-6, 1-3).

Poway 7, Orange Glen 1--Mike Sharp went four for four with two doubles, a homer and two RBIs to lift No. 6 Poway (8-2, 3-1). John Grosely had three hits, two doubles and two RBIs, and Steve Boros and Mark Phillips added two hits apiece. Scott Tittrington (4-0) pitched a six-hitter, walked none, struck out five and allowed an unearned run.

Rancho Buena Vista 8, Torrey Pines 2--An error on Travis Wilson’s two-run single in the fifth inning scored four runs to give RBV (8-4-1, 3-1) the victory. Mark Pallotto went two for two, stole three bases, score a run and had two RBIs. Jimmy Hill (1-0) pitched a three-hitter and struck out six. Torrey Pines is 3-6-1, 2-2.

Avocado League

Escondido 8, Oceanside 0--Marquessa Penrod (7-0) pitched a no-hitter and struck out 12. Escondido had 17 hits.

Grossmont Conference Tournament

Grossmont 3, El Capitan 2--Grossmont (13-1) won this inaugural tournament championship behind the pitching of senior right-hander Jolie Oliver.
