The Cincinnati Bengals have asked a federal judge in Seattle to dismiss the club from a lawsuit by a Spokane, Wash., woman who said she was raped by up to 15 players in 1990.

Lawyer Steve Robinson of Seattle asked U.S. District Court Judge John Coughenour to rule on the team’s request May 22. The 35-year-old woman filed the civil suit April 10 in Seattle against the club and 15 unidentified players.

The Bengals maintain that the team cannot be sued because the woman signed an agreement in 1991 to accept $30,000 for not taking legal action against a group of unnamed players and “all others who may be liable” in the alleged incident.
