Racism and L.A. Riots

Share

I wouldn’t have believed it a year ago if someone had told me that last week I’d be driving at rush hour on the Santa Monica Freeway going 80 m.p.h. past a CHP who just smiled and waved.

There would be an emergency address by the President with Rodney King mentioned by name. The Army was marching down Hollywood Boulevard and there wasn’t a parade. The beaches were closed but there was no sewage spill. We were sent to our rooms (curfew), without supper (no open markets) because we were very bad.

And most bizarre, the forecast for L.A. was sunny and smoky!
