Countywide : Construction to Close Freeways Overnight

Caltrans will temporarily close two sections of the Santa Ana Freeway and a portion of the Garden Grove Freeway starting late Thursday to allow construction as part of the overall widening of the freeways in that area.

The state Department of Transportation will close the northbound Santa Ana Freeway for bridge repair and re-striping between Jeffrey and Jamboree roads from 11 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday. The same stretch will also be closed from 11 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday for re-striping.

Road crews will also close the north and southbound lanes of the Santa Ana Freeway between The City Drive in Orange and Main Street in Santa Ana from 11 p.m on Thursday to 5 a.m. on Friday to remove an overhead freeway sign. Caltrans is recommending that motorists use the Garden Grove Freeway and the Costa Mesa Freeway to avoid the closure.

Construction on the southbound ramp connecting the Santa Ana Freeway with the Garden Grove Freeway will close it to vehicles for five days starting at 10 p.m. Thursday. Workers are rebuilding the ramp where the Santa Ana Freeway is being widened and will reopen it at 10 p.m. Monday.

Caltrans also plans to close the eastbound Garden Grove Freeway to the northbound San Diego Freeway connector ramp Saturday from 6 to 9 a.m. to repair electrical circuits.
