Share

Juan Samuel will not come off the disabled list today as scheduled and could be injured worse than initially feared.

The swelling in Samuel’s left middle finger, one of two fingers that suffered fractures, has yet to subside, even though he has not taken a ground ball in a game since April 28.

Samuel will be re-examined Friday in Los Angeles by hand specialist Dr. Norman Zemel.

Samuel was hitting .264 with eight runs batted in when he went on the disabled list. While starting at second base in Samuel’s place, Lenny Harris and Mike Sharperson are 12 for 35 (.343), with two runs batted in and one error during nine starts.
