SPORTSCOPE : Two Super Lightweight Bouts Featured on Forum Card

Two super lightweight and a lightweight bout will highlight the Forum boxing card Monday night.

Sammy Fuentes will fight Marco Antonio Lizarraga, and David Kamau will meet Pedro De La Cruz in super lightweight bouts scheduled for 10 rounds. Fuentes, who is from Puerto Rico, is 27-8-1 with 15 knockouts. Lizarraga, a southpaw from Mazatlan, Mexico, is 36-4-1 with 25 KOs.

Kenyan-born Kamau, who now lives in Los Angeles, is 15-0 with 12 KOs. De La Paz, who is from Chihuahua, Mexico, is 11-4-1 with nine KOs.

Jorge Ramirez and Leobardo Mancillas will meet in a lightweight bout. Ramirez, from Hermosillo, Mexico, is 59-7-3 with 47 KOs. Mancillas, who is from Durango, Mexico, is 19-15-1 with 15 KOs.

The card starts at 7.

More than 300 athletes are expected to participate when the South Bay Special Olympics holds its 1992 Area Athletics Meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at North High, 3620 W. 182nd St., Torrance.

Volunteers are needed for the event, which is sponsored by the Torrance Parks and Recreation Department. Admission is free.

The 4-D Stars South Bay Basketball League will hold registration for its summer youth basketball program from 5-9 p.m. June 12 at West Torrance High’s main gym lobby.

There will also be team selection and orientation from 5-10 p.m. June 19 at the same site.

The cost is $70 and includes a jersey and insurance. League play will run from June 27-Aug. 29.

Registration starts Tuesday for a summer adult slow-pitch softball league.

Play begins June 7 in Hermosa Beach. There will be divisions for men’s and co-ed teams.

The cost is $385 a team plus a $50 refundable forfeit fee and a $2 fee for each non-resident of Hermosa Beach.

Harbor College will hold its annual Seahawk Soccer Academy for boys and girls 6 to 14 in three sessions starting in July in Wilmington.

Sessions will be July 6-10, July 13-17 and July 27-31.

The cost is $125 a session and includes a T-shirt and soccer ball.
