SANTA CLARITA : 3 Flee After Stolen Truck Rolls Over

Share

A stolen big rig filled with bales of cotton overturned near a Santa Clarita off-ramp, triggering a three-hour land and air search by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies for three men seen fleeing the area, authorities said.

The accident, which occurred at 9:20 p.m. Monday, blocked traffic on the westbound lanes of Valencia Boulevard for more than two hours. The truck rolled over on its side after the driver sped off the northbound Golden State Freeway at the Valencia Boulevard off-ramp and lost control of the vehicle, Deputy Paul Vechil said.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident and no arrests were made, but sheriff’s deputies searched by helicopter and patrol car for the men, who were seen fleeing on foot toward the Valencia Golf Course, Vechil said.

The truck had earlier been reported stolen by a Long Beach resident.
