Fountain Valley’s Tim Doyle, seeded second at the tournament, was upset by Tim Sweeney, 11-8, 11-8, 13-11, in a semifinal match of the Pro-Am Racquetball Championships Saturday at the L.A. Fitness Center.

Sweeney, the reigning amateur and intercollegiate champion from Southwest Missouri State who is playing in his first professional tournament, will face Cliff Swain, an 11-7, 1-11, 11-3, 5-11, 11-9 winner over Dave Johnson in the other semifinal, in today’s 1 p.m. final.

Sweeney, seeded 19th, had 10 aces and kept Doyle on the defensive throughout the match.

Swain, seeded 20th, needed almost three hours to eliminate Johnson and had to overcome a 5-1 deficit in the final game.
