Van Nuys Driver Arrested Over Fatal Ramming

A suspected drunk driver was arrested Sunday on suspicion of murder after he allegedly rammed another car in a Warner Center intersection, killing one person and seriously injuring another, Los Angeles police said.

Tuan Dean Mau Tran, 21, of Van Nuys died when his car was hit at the intersection of Vanowen Street and Canoga Avenue about 2:45 a.m., Officer Tim Cox said. His passenger, Ming Nguyen, 20, of Van Nuys was critically injured.

Steve Delamora, 20, of West Hills was arrested after being treated for minor injuries, police said. He was being held without bail.

According to police, Tran was driving west on Vanowen when he was struck by Delamora, who was heading north on Canoga. It was unclear whether Delamora ran a red light, but police investigators said he appeared to be intoxicated.

A blood test was taken, but results were not immediately available, police said.
