Cabdriver Dies in Hit-Run Incident
A 45-year-old cabdriver was killed after he crashed his taxi on the Hollywood Freeway, was thrown from the car and then hit by two cars that fled the scene, authorities said Sunday.
James Landers of North Hollywood died in the hit-and-run accident that occurred Saturday at 10:50 p.m. as he drove south on the Hollywood Freeway near Victory Boulevard, authorities said.
For unknown reasons, Landers lost control of the minivan that he was driving for Valley Cab Co., Los Angeles County coroner’s official Nils Linder said. Landers hit the center divider and the cab flipped, ejecting him from the vehicle, Linder said.
Two other cars hit him, causing fatal injuries, California Highway Patrol Officer J. Fanugo said. Neither vehicle stopped. CHP officers are looking for the motorists, Fanugo said.
