Premier super-lightweights Julio Cesar Chavez and Hector Camacho square off against lesser-known opponents tonight in Las Vegas as a prelude to their long-awaited battle next month.
Chavez (80-0) of Culiacan, Mexico, will defend his WBC super-lightweight title against Frankie Mitchell (29-1) of Philadelphia. Camacho (40-1), a native of Puerto Rico, will meet Eddie Van Kirk (26-7-2) of Baltimore in a scheduled 10-round non-title bout.
Assuming both win tonight, Chavez and Camacho will fight Sept. 12 at Las Vegas.
