Technology Surges to Haskell Victory
Technology overtook Nines Wild in the last eighth of a mile and scored a 1 3/4-length victory in the $500,000 Haskell Invitational Handicap at Monmouth Park on Sunday.
Technology, ridden by Jerry Bailey, had stalked Nines Wild throughout the 1 1/8-mile race for 3-year-olds, never trailing the leader by more than two lengths and winning in 1:48 3/5.
Technology, a son of Time For A Change, returned $7.60, $4.40 and $3.60 as the 5-2 second choice. Scuden was third behind Nines Wild, followed by 8-5 favorite Saint Ballado, Lee N Otto, Binalong, Pistols And Roses, Always Silver and Dance Floor.
