BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJOR LEAGUES : Mets’ Magadan Goes on DL
Dave Magadan was the latest New York Met to be put on the disabled list when he suffered a fractured right wrist Saturday in the fifth inning when he broke up a double-play attempt by the Chicago Cubs. . . . The Seattle Mariners put Kevin Mitchell on the 15-day disabled list and purchased Mike Blowers from triple-A Calgary to fill Mitchell’s roster spot. . . . Texas rookie Jeff Frye was hit above the left ear flap by a pitch from Seattle’s Kerry Woodson and left Saturday night’s game in the fourth inning. Frye walked to the dugout after he was hit and was replaced by Al Newman. He never lost consciousness and was not taken to a hospital.
